Storytelling Curriculum

Teach storytelling clearly, consistently, and at scale

Revision Learning’s storytelling curriculum helps educators, advisors, and career-supporting professionals teach students how to discover their voice, reflect on meaningful experiences, and communicate with clarity and purpose. Grounded in the Moments Method®, our curriculum provides everything teams need to teach storytelling for college admissions, career readiness, and beyond.

Our Curriculum Approach

Whether educators, advisors, or career-supporting professionals are teaching college essays or career storytelling, all Revision Learning curriculum:

  • Is grounded in the Moments Method®

  • Begins with lived experience as the foundation for story

  • Emphasizes reflection, specificity, and authentic voice

  • Balances structure with creativity

  • Supports student ownership rather than over-editing

Curriculum materials are designed to be clear, flexible, and adaptable across instructional and training contexts.

Curriculum Format

Revision Learning’s curriculum is designed for use in classrooms, advising programs, career centers, and professional training settings. Materials can be used with students, staff, or mixed groups depending on goals and context.

Curriculum may be delivered:

  • Fully offline using lesson plans, slides, and worksheets

  • With optional use of the Revision Learning platform to support reflection, drafting, and revision

  • In blended formats combining discussion, writing, and digital tools

The platform is designed to support storytelling instruction and training—not replace it—and is never required to use the curriculum effectively.

Curriculum Focus

Revision Learning offers curriculum in two primary content areas: college admissions essays and career storytelling. While both are grounded in the same storytelling framework, each is designed for different audiences, instructional goals, and outcomes.

College Essay Curriculum

Focused on teaching students how to write authentic, reflective college essays.

The College Essay Curriculum supports educators and advisors in guiding students through the college essay process with clarity and consistency. Lessons help students identify meaningful experiences, reflect on growth, and shape those experiences into compelling personal statements and supplemental essays.

Through the curriculum, students learn how to:

  • Identify meaningful experiences worth writing about

  • Focus on specific moments of growth or change

  • Structure essays with clear narrative focus

  • Use concrete detail, reflection, and voice

  • Revise thoughtfully without losing authenticity

Platform Use (Optional)

When used alongside the curriculum, the Revision Learning platform can support student brainstorming, drafting, and revision using structured prompts and reflection tools. Educators may choose to use the platform with all students, some students, or not at all.

Our college essay curriculum is used by:

  • High school English teachers

  • College counselors and advisors

  • College access and youth development programs

  • Schools and organizations seeking consistent, equity-centered college essay storytelling instruction

Career Storytelling Curriculum

Focused on building shared storytelling capacity among professionals and teams.

The Career Storytelling Curriculum is designed for training advisors, career coaches, counselors, managers, and professional teams in how to teach, model, and support career storytelling. Rather than focusing on individual student outcomes, this curriculum helps organizations develop a shared framework, language, and approach to storytelling so professionals can support one another—and others they work with—in articulating skills, experience, and character.

Through the curriculum, participants learn how to:

  • Teach career storytelling as a transferable skill across professional contexts

  • Identify and model meaningful career stories

  • Connect experience to skills, impact, and growth

  • Coach stories for interviews, applications, networking, leadership, and professional communication

  • Provide feedback that strengthens clarity and authenticity without scripting or over-editing

Platform Use (Optional)

When used with the curriculum, the Revision Learning platform can support professional training and facilitation by allowing participants to practice storytelling, model feedback, and work through sample career stories together. Teams may also use the platform to develop shared language or rehearse facilitation before applying the curriculum in their own settings. Platform use is always optional and not required to implement the curriculum effectively.

Our career storytelling curriculum is used by:

  • University career services offices and advising teams

  • Special university programs supporting career exploration, access, or professional development

  • Career development and workforce readiness organizations

  • Access and opportunity organizations supporting career navigation and advancement

  • Nonprofits and community-based organizations focused on employment, mobility, and economic opportunity

  • Organizations and teams seeking a shared, equity-centered approach to career storytelling and professional communication
