Master the Art of Storytelling Through Interactive Workshops

Gain a foundational understanding of a unique approach to storytelling and writing, and apply that knowledge to writing and editing a college essay draft. Our hands-on student and educator workshops empower participants to write powerful, authentic college essays using the Moments Method®.

Student Workshops

Our expert-led workshops guide students through the process of using storytelling to approach college essays with clarity and purpose. Available in-person or virtually, these sessions are interactive, practical, and tailored for groups of any size.

College Essay Advanced Workshops

  • UC PIQs: Students learn about the 8 University of California Personal Insight Questions and how to use storytelling to convey their unique experiences to UC admissions officers.

  • Scholarships: Students learn about the purpose of a scholarship essay and how to write a successful one, balancing storytelling and reporting in their essays in order to connect moment-driven storytelling to the mission of the scholarship.

  • Supplements - Major: Students learn about common supplemental essay prompts, the role storytelling plays in this specific type of essay writing, and how to tailor their essays to the “Why this major?” question.

  • Supplements - Community: Students learn about common supplemental essay prompts, the role storytelling plays in this specific type of essay writing, and how to tailor their essays to the “Describe a community you’re a part of” question.

College Essay Core Workshops

  • Essay Essentials: Students are introduced to the Moments Method® and the role of the essay in the college admission process. They complete a brainstorming activity where they build a portfolio of stories they can use to make admission and scholarship essays.

  • Personal Statement: Revision Learning coaches lead students through the essay process, using the StoryBuilder writing platform to write a personal statement. They end the course with a completed draft of their personal statements.

  • Essay Editing: Students take their rough draft and go through the editing process step-by-step, guided by Revision Learning coaches. They end with an edited draft of their personal statement.

Student Workshops Details

Format: Virtual or in-person

Time Duration: 1 to 2.5 hours, and can be split up to accommodate students’ schedules

Pricing:Student workshops start at $700 for a one-hour virtual session for up to 25 students, with rates as low as $3 per student per workshop.

Educator Workshops

We help educators better support students with college essay writing by training them in our signature storytelling approach. These interactive sessions come with classroom-ready curriculum materials.
In our “Core” workshops, educators gain foundational knowledge about our approach to storytelling, writing, and providing feedback. In our more advanced workshops, educators can deepen their understanding of the Revision Learning approach and apply it for more specific purposes.

Educator Advanced Workshops

  • Letters of Recommendation: Educators learn how to use storytelling to write effective letters of recommendation for each student.

  • Supplements: Educators learn how to instruct students to use storytelling for 6 different types of supplemental essays.

Educator Core Workshops

  • Introduction to Teaching the Moments Method®: Educators learn how to use the Moments Method® to teach students how to use storytelling for college admissions essays and career success (interviews, cover letters, etc.).

  • How to Provide Question-Based Feedback: Educators learn how to provide question-based feedback grounded in the Moments Method® on students' college admission essays.

Time Duration: Each workshop is 2 hours and can be adjusted to accommodate educators’ schedules

Pricing: “Educator workshops start at $2,000 for a two-hour virtual session for up to 20 educators, with rates as low as $50 per educator per workshop.”
