Here's why storytelling is so powerful: when an audience listens to or reads a story, three distinct things are happening in their brain:
Memories are ignited: When a story is shared, this triggers a cascade of memories for the audience. While the audience may not have had the same experiences, they have likely had similar ones that help them relate to the story.
Emotions are activated: Storytelling not only resurfaces memories, but it also activates emotions, immersing the audience in the moment of the story and allowing them to experience it alongside you.
They are motivated to act on your behalf: The connections formed through storytelling compel the audience to take action, fostering a desire to engage with you or support your cause.

When you use interpretations, generalizations, clichés, or summaries, this process breaks down and it's harder for your audience to genuinely connect to you.
