Professional Development

We offer hands-on professional development workshops so that educators can better support their students with college essay writing. In our first two workshops, “Introduction to Teaching the Moments Method” and “How to Provide Question-Based Feedback,” educators will gain a foundational understanding of our unique approach to storytelling, writing and providing feedback. Once educators have this foundational knowledge, they can learn how to apply their learning in a more targeted way in  our “Letters of Recommendation” and “Supplements” workshops.

Before participating in any of our workshops, educators will gain access to our custom classroom curriculum, which includes lesson plans, slide decks and worksheets. They can use the curriculum as is or make adjustments to make it uniquely their own.

All of our workshops take place in a Zoom “Meeting.” This allows for more interaction and engagement among coaches and educators in both large group and breakout room portions of the workshop.

Below, you’ll find some more information about each of our professional development workshops:

1 - Introduction to Teaching the Moments Method®: Educators learn how to use the Moments Method® to teach students how to use storytelling to build successful college essays, plus interviews for internships and jobs.

2 - How to Provide Question-Based Feedback: Educators learn how to provide trauma-reducing, question-based feedback on student essays.

3 - Letters of Recommendation: Educators learn how to use storytelling to write effective letters of recommendation for each student.

4 - Supplements: Educators learn how to instruct students to use storytelling for 6 different types of supplemental essays.

Being able to tell stories to a colleague to get a sense of how our students feel as they contemplate what to write in their own stories, and how empowered they feel after hearing from others.
